Trellis Shawl with a Whovian Twist

I started knitting a trellis shawl at the beginning of June out of this lovely Alpaca that I bought from a local farm. After much fussing and working on the pattern I took it into one of the local yarn shops for a bit of advice and to my dismay I would not have enough yarn to finish the shawl in that lovely variegated yarn. So my options were to tear it out and make the shawl narrower or buy different yarn. Well when I was wandering though a local Micheal's I noticed that Vanna's choice yarn was on sale and my mind immediately switched gears and I came up with the idea to used the shawl pattern in combination with the series 18 who scarf pattern and this is what I have come up with.

Now I did make the shawl narrower then what the pattern calls for and I may make it shorter then the 60" but I'm not sure yet. I have gotten so many compliments on my series 18 scarf that I wanted to make some thing I could wear at work that I could pin in the front. I'm really liking how it is coming along so far not sure what will happen when if I try to block it since it is an acrylic yarn which I am not sure blocks well if at all.
